HONOLULU — In a telephone interview with KITV4, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Prof. Brian Taylor said that, based on the size of Honolulu and the number of projected riders, bus rapid transit (BRT) would be a better investment than rail.
Taylor said that the forecasted 16,300 trips per day on an average weekday by the year 2030 would not be enough to offset the capital cost needed to build, operate and maintain the system, while BRT can expand as demand for transit increases. For the full story, click here.
