CHICAGO — In response to the financial abuse uncovered in an investigation involving Metra's late executive director, Phil Pagano, the state senate has proposed legislation that would give the state's executive inspector general authority to investigate the Chicago area's transit agencies, according to the Chicago Tribune.

 

Under the measure, the state watchdog office would also be empowered to look for waste, corruption and fraud at the Regional Transportation Authority; Metra; Pace and the Chicago Transit Authority. For the full story, click here.
