There were plenty of California-based transit agency buses at the Bus Showcase, including this Gillig bus for San Mateo’s SamTrans. Gillig’s Low Floor and Low Floor BRTPlus models are available in 29-, 35-, and 40-foot configurations.

The vehicle is designed to meet the most demanding applications, with available front and/or center door ADA-compliant wheelchair ramps. It is available in both 35- and 40-foot applications.

CCW’s remanufactured ZEPS bus is rebuilt with lightweight flooring, low-resistance tires, and energy-efficient heating and cooling, while ensuring a reach of 130-mile range on a single battery charge. Each 40-foot electric bus carries 36 seated passengers plus standees and is equipped with air-operated doors, brakes, suspension, hydraulic power-steering, stainless steel bike racks, LED lighting and lightweight seats.

BYD showcased its 60-foot articulated bus for Calif.’s Antelope Valley Transit Authority, which is working hard to meet its ambitious “green by 2018” initiative. The bus seats up to 60 people and provides a range of 275 miles on a single charge with full charging completed in two to three hours.

The Spirit of Liberty is a rear-engine medium-duty low-floor bus with a highly flexible suite of floor plan designs. The vehicle can accommodate up to 37 passengers with an industry leading six wheelchair positions and is truly accessible for all thanks to its angled entranceway and 1:6-ramp slope for passengers in need of extra assistance and wheelchair accessibility.







Named for its unprecedented Efficient Energy (E2) storage capacity of 440 to 660 kWh, Proterra’s Catalyst E2 series is capable of serving the full daily mileage needs of nearly every U.S. mass transit route on a single charge with a nominal range of 194 to 350 miles. Proterra is set to launch the first autonomous bus pilot here in Reno, through a partnership with the University of Nevada, Reno and its Living Lab partners, which includes the RTC of Washoe County.

The Nova Bus LFS natural gas model is based on the proven LFS platform and integrates the latest in natural gas technology. Its rooftop catwalk is designed to facilitate maintenance and inspection, while the eCooling system scores high for fuel savings.

New Flyer showcased the XDE60 diesel-hybrid Xcelsior, which is also available in clean-diesel, compressed natural gas, electric trolley, and battery-electric configurations. The vehicle boasts the lowest curb weight among similar buses tested, better fuel economy, standard disc brakes, the industry’s first LED headlights, and the lowest entrance step-height of any transit bus, according to the company.

This 2016 MCI Commuter Coach features a Cummins ISX-G 400 horsepower 2016 CNG engine with an Allison B500 automatic transmission. The vehicle includes seating for 57 passengers, an I/O G4 multiplexing system, Smartwave tire pressure monitoring, Amerex Amgads fire suppression system, and electronic stability control.

The SuperLo Enviro500 is a double-deck that can operate on the same routes as single decks in virtually every part of the U.S. and Canada. It offers seating for up to 57 passengers in fixed “transit type” seats in the upper saloon and up to 24 fixed-type seats in the lower saloon, including three “flip-up” seats in both wheelchair compartments.
