A look at the BusCon 2016 show floor, which included 80+ vehicles, Indy Car champ Helio Castroneves and more.

REV officially unveiled World Trans, a new transit bus brand after a soft launch of its narrow-body T-Series model at the APTA Bus & Paratransit Conference in May. The T-Series is built on a Ford Transit cutaway chassis and has seating for 14, plus rear luggage storage.

The New Flyer MiDi, available in 30- and 35-foot lengths, is a medium-sized, low-floor bus that is ideal for use in transit, community shuttle services, and for connecting passengers to high-frequency transit routes.

Diamond Coach provides paratransit and executive coach lines on both Ford and GM chassis. Vehicles feature vacuum-cured composite coach bodies, including composite wheel wells, entry steps and skins for rear and w/c doors.

The Thomas Built Buses' Transit-Liner C2 showcased new improvements, including ergonomic innovations such as additional legroom; optimized mirror positioning; and optional adjustable pedals and tilt/telescopic steering wheel. A multiplex wiring system allows for switch replacement to meet driver preferences, while a low, automotive-style, non-reflective instrument panel increases visibility and reduces eye strain. Vehicle maneuverability and control were optimized with a tight wheel cut of up to 55 degrees and a tapered leaf Comfort Trac suspension offers more control, comfort and responsiveness.

The SLEC mobile lift is fitted with an emergency stop safety button; interactive touch screen control and are Buy America-compliant. Each column comes with a simple-to-use pallet jack for portability.

The Embassy Bus M-Series is built on the M2 Freightliner Chassis with various brake and GVWR offerings. Floors and sidewalls are made of structurally reinforced fiberglass composite material, which greatly reduces vehicle weight and is moisture resistant for a lifetime of service. A one-piece, extruded roof system channels water away from sidewall seams and gives greater structural integrity.

BraunAbility dispalyed their Commmercial Side-Entry Dodge conversion vehicle. The ADA-compliant vehicle accommodates 6 passengers and features a manual driver and passenger sliding door with 56-1/4-inch vertical opening.

Federal showcased a reimagined front cap slope, featuring a standard front-viewing window. Special features included Hadley parcel racks with four monitors, backup camera, Executive Premier seating, a flip-down 32-inch monitor, a spacious rear luggage compartment, and Altro flooring.

The 2017 Krystal has been redesigned from the inside out. Partnering with Premier Products, known for the high-level safety in belted coach seating, REV will introduce its own custom seat design, featuring a unique stitching pattern that is exclusive to Krystal and REV sister brand Federal. Outside, Krystal’s new molded fiberglass exterior features a new front cap with large panoramic forward observation windows, and sticking to Krystal’s luxury standards, the passenger entry door will continue to offer standard electric-slide operation.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Metro Worldwide’s Metro Link comes in either 24- or 28-feet lengths and features a fully-welded tubular steel framework; high-gloss fiberglass exterior sidewalls and interior walls; and a steel C-channel reinforcement structure under all seat and wheelchair mounting points. The model on the show floor was built on a Ford E450 chassis and featured woodgrain flooring, a parcel rack and 2+2 black leather seats.

The 30-foot Vicinity is a two-door transit bus, with a ramp in front. It features a Cummins ISB 2013 engine, a ZF transmission, and four-wheel disc brakes.

The Turtle Top VT3 is constructed on Ford's new gas or diesel Transit cutaway. Lightweight materials, such as 6360 aluminum (aircraft grade), are used exclusively for the cage structure, which provides superior strength. The aerodynamic exterior and comfortable interior have also been redesigned featuring great driving visibility and sophisticated automotive styling.

Rosco and Mobileye’s Vision Quest system yields simple left, center and right alarm interfaces that communicate audio and visual alerts to drivers based on the location of a pedestrian and severity of the threat. Whether a straightaway or turn, the multi-vision-sensor system is tuned with sophisticated algorithms and Mobileye’s experience to filter out pedestrian proximity that is non-threatening. It also locks in and follows pedestrians and their course if they are deemed to be collision likely.

Karsan's ATAK offers a high passenger capacity, low-floor wheelchair accessibility, and a comfortable ride. The design is also equipped with kneeling functions and a lightweight in-floor ramp. Its EPA 2017 Clean Diesel powertrain guarantees a quiet and comfortable trip.

The Irizar i6 is constructed of stainless steel with an integral monocoque design and features a Cummins ISX 425 horsepower, EPA 13 engine. The i6 is 45-feet long and offers seating for 56 passengers with three-point seatbelts.

Indbus NA featured a Maximo built on a Ford Transit chassis and 2+1 cloth reclining seats. Also on the show floor was an Inovo XXL built on a Freightliner S2 chassis.

 

The Blue Bird T3RE is available in diesel and CNG. It features a fuel-efficient Cummins ISB 6.7 or ISL 8.9 diesel engine, or a Cummins ISL-G CNG engine, and a five-speed automatic transmission. A wide stepwell makes boarding easy, especially with bulky carry-on items. It seats up to 48 passengers.

The Temsa TS 35E mid-size coach offers a spacious interior for both passengers and the driver, with an integral construction that ensures a smooth and stable ride. The vehicle is built on a Cummins-Allison driveline and offers European quality and craftsmanship, as well as standard features including a high-performance A/C system, an enclosed parcel rack, and a welcoming entrance.

The remanufactured ZEPS bus is rebuilt with lightweight flooring, low resistance tires, and energy-efficient heating and cooling, while ensuring a reach of 130 mile range on a single battery charge. Each 40-foot electric bus carries 36 seated passengers plus standees and is equipped with air operated doors, brakes, suspension, hydraulic power-steering, stainless steel bike racks, LED lighting and lightweight seats.

The Karsan STAR offers luxury seating for 31 and over 28 cu.ft. of luggage storage, making it an ideal employee shuttle or commuter coach. Optional features include a wheelchair lift, Wi-Fi connection, and multimedia functions.

The Blue Bird Vision is available in four different fuel types and features a fuel-efficient Ford 6.8L gasoline, propane autogas, or compressed natural gas (CNG) engine, or a Cummins ISB6.7 diesel engine, and a six-speed automatic transmission. The Vision provides forward visibility and mirror systems that improve driver awareness and increase the safety of passengers around the bus. Blue Bird Vision buses seat up to 48 passengers.

GM Fleet

Freightliner Custom Chassis' S2C Cutway Commercial Bus Chassis features a 20% larger windshield compared to competitor; a 55-degree wheelcut offers improved maneuverability.

Helio Castroneves

In addition to launching its World Trans bus brand, REV also debuted the never-seen-before E-Series version of the vehicle, which is built on the Ford E-350/450, at BusCon. The E-Series has seating for 16, plus two wheelchair positions and passed Altoona’s seven year/200,000-mile durability requirements.

Champion unveiled the LF Transport® F-550, the first-ever low-floor transit bus to be built on a heavy-duty cutaway Ford F-550 chassis. The new LF Transport raises the bar in cutaway low-floor capacity, featuring up to 27 passengers on select configurations. The bus is Ford QVM-certified to maintain all OEM warranties and also offers the first-ever transit front cap with large panoramic forward observation windows.

 

 

 

 

 

Micro Bird’s D-Series MD is specifically designed for the airport, parking, rental car, and hotel markets. This new bus has a 42-inch middle door entrance, wide body with wide aisle, and a total of 74 inches of luggage rack space.

The MCI J4500 has heightened curb appeal, enhanced reliability, low-cost performance, and double-digit fuel economy gains. It now includes an independent front suspension, which offers a turning radius nearly seven feet tighter than before. And, the new Bendix braking system delivers car-like control, along with optional driver-assistance and collision mitigation features.

Grech’s M2 is built on a Freightliner chassis and featured woodgrain flooring, rear luggage, and a restroom.

The 23-foot BYD battery-electric coach can be manufactured in qualified BYD factories worldwide and is compliant with FMVSS, CMVSS, ADA, and “Buy America.” The vehicle has a charge time of 1.5 to two hours and a range of about 124 miles.
