PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — Two train enthusiasts have been identified as two of the three people killed Monday near Tacoma, when an Amtrak train derailed on an I-5 overpass, CNN reports.

Jim Hamre and Zack Willhoite both worked in the transportation industry, were members of the Rail Passengers Association, served on the board of All Aboard Washington, and had recently returned from a trip to Germany where they rode a train around the country.

The men were taking part in the inaugural run of Amtrak Cascades 501 when the train derailed, according to CNN.
