Cybersecurity, automated vehicles, and employee recruiting/retention are just some of the topics on tap for the inaugural installment of METRO Magazines Public Transit Conference (PTC), which will be held in conjunction with the Government Fleet Expo & Conference (GFX) at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, Ky., May 7 to 10.

The popular and well-regarded GFX has met the dynamic needs of fleet professionals in the public sector for many years and is an ideal fit for PTC, which is aimed at public transit professionals.

Registration is now open for this one-of-a-kind event. Save $200 with the Early Bird discount until April 5, 2024.

What to Expect

With a focus on the latest trends in the industry, this year’s event will feature the “Best Practices for Recruiting and Retaining Transit Employees” session with Mark Szyperski, president/CEO of On Your Mark Transportation, and Daniel  Resch, provider network manager for Uzurv Holdings LLC. The session will not only focus on the best ways to identify and recruit top talent but also provide best practice tips for retaining the employees that are already professionally trained and versed in your agency’s culture.

From a tech standpoint, this year’s PTC will have some of the top names in the industry on hand to focus on autonomous vehicles (AVs) and cybersecurity.

No longer at the pilot phase, autonomous shuttles are becoming a viable solution for public transit systems around the nation. PTC’s session will focus on what are some of the best use cases for AVs in public transit, as well as the possibilities for the technology’s growth now that manufacturing of the vehicles will primarily be concentrated here in the U.S.

In the wake of some high-profile cyber-attacks in San Francisco and St. Louis, the cybersecurity session will focus on best practices for ensuring that your agency is both protected and can respond to potential cyber-attacks.

Additional sessions set for PTC include a leadership roundtable hosted by industry stalwart Mark Aesch, president and CEO of TransPro Consulting, a look at how to set the culture in your industry, and much more.

Stay tuned for even more announcements about the PTC’s educational program, the shared show floor with GFX, and much more.
