BALTIMORE — The Maryland Transit Administration agreed to overhaul its paratransit service to settle a class-action lawsuit filed in 2015 contending that the service was unreliable and inaccessible to some riders with disabilities, reported The Baltimore Sun.

Under the terms of the settlement, the agency will hire consultants to review the service, adopt quality-assurance measures for program elegibility and processing applications quicker, the report said.

An attorney with Disability Rights Maryland, one of the groups that filed the suit, said the settlement will make access to the Mobility system fairer and "more like the regular fixed-route service" and said the agency already has started on changes, according to The Baltimore Sun.
