Alstom Transport’s knowledge and innovation team debuted new virtual training simulators to the North American market including the new oculus 3D virtual reality headset, which simulates being in the driver’s seat of a high-speed train traveling over 250 mph. The driving simulator enabled participants to emulate the operation of a Citadis light rail vehicle through acceleration, deceleration and emergency braking in a virtual reality setting. These simulators are the next generation of training tools that will help train rail operators in a safe, controlled environment.
