N.Y. MTA transit union tells motormen to slow train speed

In an effort to save riders' lives, and save motormen from the trauma of running someone over, Transport Workers Union Local 100 is telling motormen to slow down their trains when entering a station to about 10 miles per hour. NJ Transit unveils new rail safety system

The “Another Train Coming” rail safety device is designed to enhance pedestrian safety around the tracks. The warning system consists of active signs in all four quadrants of the rail crossing, with an LED text message that reads, “DANGER, Another Train Coming,” as well as an audio component that repeatedly sounds the message.
