D.C. Metro deputy GM resigns
David Kubicek, who was instrumental in improving safety on the Metrorail, will leave the Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority on March 18. It is not clear what he plans to do next.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Washington Post reported that Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority’s (Metro) David Kubicek, the deputy GM for operations, is resigning effective March 18.
Kubicek oversees Metrorail, as well as Metro’s capital projects and about 6,500 employees. He was instrumental in improving safety on the rail system, GM Richard Sarles told the paper. It is not clear what he plans to do next.
Kubicek’s resignation is the second high-level departure for the agency in coming weeks. Metro Police Chief Michael A. Taborn is leaving in March after a 30-year career. For the full story, click here.
