Michigan awarded $197M for track, signal upgrades

Funds will support track and signal improvements between Detroit and Kalamazoo, Mich., which will allow for speeds of up to 110 mph on 77 percent of Amtrak’s Wolverine and Blue Water services between Detroit and Chicago, resulting in a 30-minute reduction in travel time between those destinations.

Arizona ordered to reinstate transit program

A federal judge ruled that the Arizona Legislature's 2010 move to end the Local Transportation Assistance Fund was illegal because the Legislature does not have the authority to change federal Clean Air Act requirements without federal approval, and the funds are part of Phoenix's federally approved plan to fight air pollution.
