The light rail line, expected to be completed in 2020, will carry 57,000 riders per day in 2030 and cost approximately $1.8 billion in Year 2010 dollars. Accounting for inflation, the cost is approximately $2.2 billion.

Cleveland RTA to renovate BRT station for $10.5M

FTA green lighted work on the University Circle Rapid Transit Station, which was awarded $10.5 million from the TIGER II Program in October 2010. The project will involve reconstructing the station, which includes consolidating the bus and transfer area and the rail station.

Will help urban, suburban and rural communities develop transit options to better connect people to where they live, work and play. Local transit agencies will be able to compete for the funding. The competitive grant program will begin accepting applications when announced in the Federal Register during the week of June 20.

Denver RTD awarded federal workforce development grant

The $486,465 FTA grant will foster a partnership between RTD, Community College of Denver, Urban League of Metropolitan Denver and Denver Transit Partners to create and retain living wage careers in the transit and construction industries, as well as provide local residents with skills development training, jobs and career pathways to work in these industries.

FTA oks final design phase for TriMet light rail

Approved the $1.49 billion Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail Project to enter into Final Design. The project can now be developed from its current 30 percent design to 100 percent design. TriMet expects to sign the Full Funding Grant Agreement by mid-2012, moving the project into full construction.
