Ariz.'s Sun Van adds 35 paratransit vehicles

The City of Tucson, Ariz. and Sun Van, the city’s award-winning paratransit service, introduced 35 new Sun Van vehicles, which will replace aging vehicles and improve the overall quality of Sun Van’s fleet.

All vehicles are now in service, they were received at the end of June, decreasing the average age of the fleet from 2.47 years to 2.1 years.

Purchased with funding from the Federal Transportation Administration and the City of Tucson, Sun Van received 35 cutaway vehicles built by Glaval at a cost of $90,000 per vehicle.

“With the addition of 35 new vehicles we will be able to enhance our service and outreach into the community,” said Kate Riley, GM of Sun Van.

The Sun Van regional paratransit system is operated by Transdev and under contract with the City of Tucson. With more than 200 employees, Sun Van provides paratransit services throughout the community with a fleet of over 130 ADA-accessible vehicles.
