Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp. (FCCC) and Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) officially broke ground on its logistics facility in Gaffney, S.C.

The new facility is the centerpiece of a $22.7 million investment expected to bring a significant positive impact across a number of key business operations for FCCC to expand its facilities and capabilities and enhance its operations.

The 200,000-square-foot facility will serve as a new logistics and material-handling center for FCCC and will enable the company to utilize up to 60% more component kitting. Up to 100 employees will operate out of the new facility when it opens in early 2018.

“This investment and facility demonstrate our commitment to our employees, our community and our customers,” said David Carson, president of FCCC. “This investment makes our current operations more efficient and effective and positions us for continued growth well into the future. Most importantly, it will help us continue building the best chassis — backed by the best customer support – in the industry.”

In addition to the logistical and process enhancements made possible by the new facility, the investment will create an expansion at FCCC’s current office building in Gaffney. This will include a 25% increase in personal work stations, a quadrupling of training room capacity, doubling of available team work space, and significant increase in the break room capacity.

The investment will also make possible the creation of additional employee parking, and expanded capacity for completed chassis parking and loading/delivery operations.
