National Transit Institute opens Request for Presenters for training workshop
The Transit Trainers' Workshop event, which is the only national event focused on training in the transit industry, will be held in Seattle Nov. 11 to 13.
The National Transit Institute (NTI) is now accepting presentation proposals for those wishing to facilitate a training session at the 2018 Transit Trainers’ Workshop (TTW) to be held in Seattle Nov. 11 to 13. TTW is the only national event focused on training in the transit industry.
Attendees at TTW participate in the valuable and informative sessions, but also have the opportunity to distinguish themselves and gain recognition for their agency by providing transit industry information, best practices, and other resources to colleagues from around the country by being presenters. To submit a presentation proposal, complete and submit the Proposal Form and mail, email, or fax it to NTI no later than June 1, 2018. NTI is requesting proposals for all day, half day, three-hour and 90 minute sessions.
NTI’s Transit Trainers’ Workshop is the premiere training event transit professionals involved in human resources, operations, maintenance, and safety training from across the country and internationally. The popular event provides attendees with a wealth of professional development opportunities, facilitates the sharing of training resources in the industry and enables peer-to-peer networking. TTW draws over 200 transit professionals.
The National Transit Institute was created by Congress in 1991 by the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act. NTI continues to be authorized under the FAST Act; Fixing America’s Surface Transportation. Funding is provided by the Federal Transit Administration to develop, promote, and deliver training and education programs for the public transit industry. NTI’s mission is to provide training and educational resources in support of public transportation and quality of life in the U.S.
The region’s fixed-route system finished out the year with a total of 373.5 million rides. Adding 12.3 million rides over 2024 represents an increase that is equal to the annual transit ridership of Kansas City.
The service is a flexible, reservation-based transit service designed to close the first- and last-mile gaps and connect riders to employment for just $5 per day.
The upgraded system, which went live earlier this month, supports METRO’s METRONow vision to enhance the customer experience, improve service reliability, and strengthen long-term regional mobility.
The agreement provides competitive wages and reflects strong labor-management collaboration, positive working relationships, and a shared commitment to building a world-class transit system for the community, said RTA CEO Lona Edwards Hankins.
The priorities are outlined in the 2026 Board and CEO Initiatives and Action Plan, which serves as a roadmap to guide the agency’s work throughout the year and ensure continued progress and accountability on voter-approved transportation investments and essential mobility services.
