Georgetown, Texas is set to introduce a new fixed-route bus system, GoGeo, in August. GoGeo was developed as a result of the growing need for transportation in the area, through a partnership that includes Capital Metro, the Capital Area Rural Transportation System (CARTS), and the Georgetown Health. It will offer four service routes, as well as paratransit service for residents with disabilities.

Southwestern graduate Noah Clark is participating in an internship with the Texas Victory Project and working closely with the Southeast Georgetown Community Council (SEGCC) this summer to take an active role in GoGeo’s launch.

“Getting to work, doctor appointments and even the grocery store is challenging for those that don’t have personal transportation. GoGeo will make travel more accessible for those that need it most,” he said. He also praises the paratransit service, which provides curb-to-curb service for residents with disabilities who meet specific ADA requirements.

GoGeo will have two stops near the Southwestern University campus, which will help students, faculty, and staff that don’t have cars or prefer the convenience and benefits of utilizing public transportation.

Eligibility and screening through a paper application will be provided by CARTS.
