FMCSA to launch driver pre-employment screening

By using driver safety information during pre-employment screening, motor carriers will be able to better assess potential safety risks of a prospective driver-employee, and drivers will have additional opportunities to verify the data in their driving history and correct any discrepancies.

Baytech's CNG engine now EPA, CARB certified

Vehicle models covered by Baytech's new 6.0L CNG heavy duty engine certification include the Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana 4500 Cutaway Van, the Isuzu NPR HD and Chevrolet/GMC W4500 Cab Forward chassis, and the Workhorse Custom Chassis heavy duty chassis.

BC Transit unveils Ballard-powered hydrogen buses

Fuel cell buses are zero-emission vehicles, with no greenhouse gases, particulates, or harmful emissions released during operation. Water is the only byproduct. BC Transit's fleet of fuel cell buses is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by around 1,800 tons per year in British Columbia.

Two new, motorized T3 vehicles will be used to patrol large areas, such as multi-level parking garages, to help deter auto thefts and thefts from autos, some of the most common types of crimes committed on Metro property. T3s are electric, three-wheeled vehicles that are driven by a police officer who stands between the rear wheels.

APTA: Public transit riders save $9K annually

Transit riders can save on average $755 per month. The savings amount is based on the cost of the national averages for parking and driving, as well as, the October 5 national average gas price of $2.461 per gallon for self-serve regular gasoline as reported by AAA.

Bus Safety and Security Website will give users quick and easy access to a comprehensive resource library that houses more than 1,000 downloadable technical assistance documents, and a community forum to support peer-to-peer information sharing.
