Prior to his career in sales, Gordon played professional football for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and in the Canadian Football League.
"We continue to experience remarkable growth for seating and fire suppression in the North American Transit market and that growth requires additional organizational talent,” said Raymond Melleady, executive VP at USSC. “Sonny truly understands the value of teamwork and is the perfect addition to our growing organization. His work ethic, knowledge of the industry, and background are well-suited to complement our growing team of sales professionals. He brings a record of accomplishment in sales and customer service and is well respected in the industry. He will be a tremendous asset to our existing and future customer base and I look forward to working with him to achieve our collective goals.”
“USSC is a significant player in the transit industry with a great portfolio of products. I am eager to join this well-respected and talented team of sales professionals,” said Gordon. “It’s exciting to be part of an organization with such a rich history and long standing presence in the transportation industry, and I look forward to doing my part in achieving our collective goals.”
The region’s fixed-route system finished out the year with a total of 373.5 million rides. Adding 12.3 million rides over 2024 represents an increase that is equal to the annual transit ridership of Kansas City.
The service is a flexible, reservation-based transit service designed to close the first- and last-mile gaps and connect riders to employment for just $5 per day.
The upgraded system, which went live earlier this month, supports METRO’s METRONow vision to enhance the customer experience, improve service reliability, and strengthen long-term regional mobility.
The agreement provides competitive wages and reflects strong labor-management collaboration, positive working relationships, and a shared commitment to building a world-class transit system for the community, said RTA CEO Lona Edwards Hankins.
The priorities are outlined in the 2026 Board and CEO Initiatives and Action Plan, which serves as a roadmap to guide the agency’s work throughout the year and ensure continued progress and accountability on voter-approved transportation investments and essential mobility services.
