Illinois Quad Cities public transit provider MetroLINK announced its partnership with TransLoc to provide transit technology tools to local Metro bus system riders. MetroLINK is deploying the TransLoc Rider app for riders using the Metro bus system to receive real-time service alerts, advanced trip planning tools, and more features that will make mass transit in the area more accessible.

“The TransLoc Rider app gives our 10,000 daily riders up-to-the-minute bus information at the tap of a button,” said Jennifer Garrity, manager of administration at MetroLINK. “Many of our riders are tech-savvy millennials and young professionals who are used to getting the latest information on their smart phones.”

The partnership advances MetroLINK’s mission to create an efficient transit system to ease traffic congestion and reduce air pollution. Eighty-five percent of MetroLINK’s bus fleet runs on clean burning, compressed natural gas and all new capital infrastructure is built to USGBC Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards.

MetroLINK offers fixed-route bus service, the “Channel Cat Water Taxi”, and ADA paratransit, with 3.5 million rides a year taken on its services.
