American Bus and Accessories, Inc., an Ohio-based bus dealership, announced yesterday that its president and owner, Michael A. Roberts, died.

Roberts' daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Nick Hart, plan to continue his legacy, building upon the years of guidance, wisdom, and leadership he provided as they lead the company into its next chapter.

According to the company's announcement, Roberts graduated from Northern Kentucky University in 1977 with a degree in marketing. He began his career with Wayne Sales, Inc., leading to a 49-year career in the bus industry. After nine years, Roberts purchased the company from Art Schmitt, and in 1986, American Bus and Accessories, Inc. was born. Roberts is widely regarded as one of the true pioneers of the industry.

"While representing many of the leading brands in the industry, honesty and loyalty were the cornerstones of his character," the company's statement read. "He led with integrity, showed empathy to those in need, and took great pride in being dependable and caring for those around him. He built friendships, not just business relationships."

Roberts was consistently recognized as one of the top dealers in the country and won countless awards from the manufacturers he represented, but he always recognized the collective effort from the whole team for the company's success.

"The outpouring of love, support, and respect from colleagues across the industry is a testament to the kind of man he was and the lasting impact he made on so many lives," they added.

Roberts' visitation will be Saturday, February 28, from 10 to 1 at St. Agnes Church, 1680 Dixie Hwy, Ft. Wright, KY 41011. Mass of Christian burial will take place following the visitation, with a reception to follow. Interment will take place privately at a later date.
