Electric bus builder, GreenPower, has announced a plan to support its production requirements for the next year. The company has provided specific project updates related to its Porterville, Calif. manufacturing facility.

In order to manage its current production requirements, the company has leased two warehouses in Porterville. This enables GreenPower to produce all of the electric buses for the orders and commitments over the next year.

GreenPower owns 9.3 acres of land across from the Porterville Municipal Airport. The company is in the process of constructing a two-story office building and a manufacturing facility comprising a total of 144,000 square feet.

The civil, building, engineering, and footings plans along with the soil report and the storm water pollution prevention plan have been submitted to the City of Porterville’s Building Department for review. GreenPower expects to receive comments from the city in September 2017, at which time the company will finalize its construction timetable, budget, and financing from traditional lenders in the construction industry.

GreenPower plans to start construction in October 2017 by first completing all civil and site work before building the facility in three phases. The first phase involves the construction of the two-story office building as well as one of three buildings comprising the manufacturing facility, totalling 56,000 square feet. This first phase will allow GreenPower to ramp up its production in the short term and will be used for final assembly after the facility has been completed.
