The Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA) partnered with HealthyHere, a mobile medical clinic, to provide annual physicals, primary care, and follow-up care to their 485 team members. The HealthyHere mobile clinics are fully outfitted with portable ultrasound machines, a private area in the vehicle dedicated to physical exams, and the equipment necessary for performing on-board lab work and biometric measurements.

According to Dr. Bill West, founder of HealthyHere, “a recent Harvard Medical School study shows that a typical visit to a traditional doctor’s office takes around two hours. Travel time and waiting take up the vast majority of the patient’s time, with only about 20 minutes spent face-to-face with the physician.”

By bringing their mobile clinics directly to the MATA locations, HealthyHere is able to eliminate the travel and wait time that often discourage individuals from seeing their primary care physicians and having their annual physicals performed. The average individual utilizing the HealthyHere mobile clinics can have their physical performed in 25% of the time it would normally take to travel and have one performed in a traditional doctor’s office.

MATA’s 485 team members can now schedule appointments for dates when the mobile medical clinic will be on site. In fact, MATA recently held open houses for its employees to provide them with an opportunity to get a first-hand look at the mobile clinic and ask any questions about the new services offered by their employer.

“A healthy workforce is the lifeblood of a healthy organization,” says Gary Rosenfeld, Interim CEO at MATA. “This partnership is evidence of our commitment to provide the highest level of care that further invests in the wellness, safety, longevity, and happiness of our team members. We are proud to be one of the first organizations leading the charge on this trend — a trend that we hope more employers will commit to: bringing the doctor to team members to provide better access to care.”
