Siemens Transportation Systems Inc. rededicated its Sacramento, Calif., manufacturing facility on Thursday as the company's North American headquarters. The rededication ceremony, which followed extensive renovation to the company's existing vehicle manufacturing facility, was attended by more than 400 local employees as well as Sacramento area politicians and business leaders. "By utilizing this single facility for the complete breadth of our corporate, vehicles, turnkey and integrated services activities, we have taken the proper steps to conistently provide the best products and services to North American cities and the riding public," said company President and CEO Oliver Hauck. The Sacramento facility, originally designed for the engineering, final assembly and testing of heavy rail vehicles, will retain these functional activities following the headquarters relocation. Siemens originally came to Sacramento in 1984, later opening the first building on the current 32-acre site in 1992.
