Transdev to operate, maintain N.C. State's campus shuttle service
The university will purchase 40 buses, creating an entirely new fleet to serve the 41,000 students and staff on three campuses, with Transdev set to employ a staff of 77 people for the $7.6 million annual contract.
Transdev will begin operations and maintenance for the campus shuttle at North Carolina State University after the Board of Regents approved the new contract last month.
N.C. State will purchase 40 buses, creating an entirely new fleet to serve the 41,000 students and staff on three campuses. Transdev will employ a staff of 77 people for the $7.6 million annual contract. The Wolfline service is free to the public and operates primarily among the Main, Centennial, and Centennial BioMedical campuses, as well as the surrounding areas.

Transdev will commence operations in August of 2017.
“We are excited to be a part of the Wolfpack community and are looking forward to providing an exceptional passenger experience to the students and staff of N.C. State and residents of Raleigh,” said Derrick Breun, Transdev’s regional VP, southeast region. “The new fleet of 45 El Dorado buses will improve passenger comfort and drastically reduce maintenance complications. Overall, passengers should expect to see an upgrade in service and reliability.”
During fall and spring semesters, Wolfline operates 10 daytime routes and four evening routes. The shuttle also serves three Park & Ride lots and official N.C. State housing. Transdev’s operations are scheduled to begin in time for the fall 2017 semester to accommodate the acquisition period of the new fleet.
The service is a flexible, reservation-based transit service designed to close the first- and last-mile gaps and connect riders to employment for just $5 per day.
