Keolis announced a four-year extension of its contract with Phoenix’s Valley Metro to continue operating the East Valley Fixed Route Bus Service, with the agreement set to run through December 31, 2030.
The Valley Metro Regional Public Transportation Authority (RPTA) board initially awarded the contract to Keolis in 2023, with operations commencing on January 1, 2024. This contract includes four-year and three-year options, totaling a maximum contract term of 10 years.
The Contract Extension
Under this extension, Keolis will continue to manage and operate fixed-route bus service across the East Valley, serving communities including Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, Scottsdale, the town of Gilbert, parts of Phoenix, and the Gila River Indian Community.
The extension reflects Valley Metro’s confidence in Keolis’ operational performance, safety record, and commitment to delivering high-quality transit service to the communities it serves, said officials.
The East Valley Fixed Route Bus Service is a critical component of the Valley Metro regional transit network, connecting residents to employment centers, education, healthcare, and essential services across one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the US, said officials.
"We are proud to continue our partnership with Valley Metro and our commitment to the communities of the East Valley," said Fadi Chakbazof, president and chief operating officer, Keolis US Transit. "This extension is a testament to the dedication of our team and our shared vision with Valley Metro for a safer, more reliable, and more sustainable public transit system for the metro Phoenix region."
