Transdev North America announced that its paratransit services contract with the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) has been renewed. The San Francisco Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the contract renewal earlier this summer.

Transdev has managed paratransit services for SFMTA since 2000 and directly operates approximately 35% of the agency’s 800,000 annual paratransit trips, overseeing all aspects of a complex San Francisco Bay Area brokerage network, utilizing taxis, social service agency vans and private fleets to provide paratransit services.

In addition to providing top quality service during the past 16 years, Transdev has taken a leadership role supporting SFMTA in its introduction of new technologies such as the paratransit debit card system and real-time arrival information for passengers. The company’s local team has also built strong relationships with the disability community in the Bay Area.

Transdev’s current focus is on expanding the paratransit fleet, and implementing a new mobility-management center to provide transit options and information to seniors and persons with disabilities. It is also supporting SFMTA on longer-term planning and development of a new operations and maintenance center in the city.
