The first bus will be sent to Altoona for safety testing. The EcoRide BE35 will be the first all-electric bus that the center will be testing and once completed, allows Proterra to mass produce and sell the bus on a commercial scale.

Proterra to build S.C. manufacturing facility

Proterra’s Greenville manufacturing and research and development center will open in 2011, and be housed in a newly constructed 250,000 square foot building on the Clemson University campus. The company plans to hire more than 1,000 local employees in the next four years.
