TRC Celebrates Launch of Kitsap Transit’s Paratransit Bus Service

The Routing Company celebrated the Kitsap Transit (KT) launch of commingled on-demand and paratransit service – powered by TRC’s Ride Pingo app – on Bainbridge Island.

The service was first announced by TRC in September when KT announced its additional five-year contract with TRC to extend on-demand transit to expanded areas of Kitsap County.

KT is the transit agency in Kitsap County, Washington, part of the Puget Sound region. TRC has been serving KT with on-demand transit for over two years, having moved over 58,000 passengers through KT’s Pingo-powered BI Ride service on Bainbridge Island. 

Hitachi Energy Acquires COET 

Hitachi Energy announced its acquisition of COET, a designer and manufacturer of power equipment for electric mobility, rail, and industry. 

The strategic partnership strengthens Hitachi Energy's offering to its customers who use their high-power electric vehicle charging infrastructure, power electronics, and grid-edge solutions. 

The acquisition follows Hitachi Energy's latest technology deployment in Quebec which is bringing an all-electric public transportation system to the city with Hitachi Energy’s Grid-eMotion Fleet technology.

Saint John Transit Launches Mobile Ticketing Solution

Saint John Transit announced the launch of the first phase of a new digital fare payment system powered by Masabi

With SJTRides, the agency’s new mobile ticketing app, riders are able to purchase tickets and passes anytime, anywhere, increasing access to Saint John Transit services.

The new mobile ticketing solution, powered by Masabi’s Justride, will allow Saint John Transit riders to control a single mobility account from their smartphone device. 

When boarding, riders who choose SJTRides can scan their mobile device using the new onboard validators, speeding up the boarding process. Riders can also now purchase tickets online and send them to a mobile device.
