STV Marks Completion of Southern California Upgrades
STV completed the upgraded Moreno Valley/March Field Metrolink Station Improvement Project on the 91/Perris Valley Line (PVL) in Southern California.
STV served as the lead consultant for the $38 million station upgrades, providing project management, design, construction support, and environmental clearance for the Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC) and Southern California Regional Rail Authority (Metrolink).
The upgraded station is a crucial step toward expanding commuter rail service in one of the country's fastest-growing regions. Upgrades include the addition of a second platform and extending the original platform from 510 to 680 feet to accommodate Metrolink’s standard eight-car train length, thereby improving capacity from a six-car train length and enhancing operational flexibility for peak-period and reverse-commute service.
The project also included the rehabilitation of 2.7 miles of adjacent track to enable bi-directional service through the station as the first phase of a planned nine-mile double-track corridor designed to enhance long-term service reliability and increase train frequency within Riverside County.
STV has played a central role in the development of the 91/Perris Valley Line since its inception, working alongside Metrolink and the RCTC to deliver the 24-mile PVL extension, which opened in 2016. This included the original design of the Moreno Valley/March Field Station and three other stations along the route. STV also provided design services for RCTC’s Riverside Downtown Security Operations Control Center, which oversees the Metrolink system in Riverside County.
Canada’s Metrolinx Teams with Commerce for Enhanced Passenger Experience
Commerce, an open, intelligent ecosystem of technology solutions that empower businesses to unlock data potential and deliver seamless, personalized experiences at scale, announced the launch of a headless ecommerce experience on the BigCommerce platform with Metrolinx, the regional public transit agency serving the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area.
Powered by parent company Commerce, BigCommerce's composable architecture now supports Metrolinx’s product management, bundling, pricing, and promotions, providing a robust, secure, and scalable platform that enhances the customer journey and streamlines internal operations, according to the company.
The project also includes seamless integration with the Stripe payment gateway, providing an extensible framework for adding new payment methods in the future.
The BigCommerce platform provides a range of features that EPAM leveraged to deliver a robust and scalable solution, address specific challenges with the previous system, and enhance overall performance for Metrolinx.
SilverRide Doubles Ridership
SilverRide Inc., a mission-driven mobility-as-a-service platform serving older adults and individuals with movement or cognitive challenges, doubled ridership volume to 74,000 monthly rides in the first half of 2025, up from 35,000 monthly rides in the same period last year.
Operating across 12 states, SilverRide delivers safe, assisted rides to individuals who need “more than just a trip — offering transportation with care.”
By 2030, the U.S. population aged 65 and over is projected to swell from 57.8 million in 2022 to approximately 71.2 million, representing nearly 20% of Americans — a demographic shift that will profoundly increase demand for accessible, highly qualified mobility services, according to SilverRide.
The company is meeting this need through a skilled driver network and three specialized service lines:
Paratransit Services: Partnerships with transit agencies to deliver high-quality, reliable, ADA-compliant door-to-door shared ride transit service for riders with mobility needs.
PACE and Healthcare Transportation: Contracted door-through-door service for PACE and healthcare providers, connecting participants to care, day centers, and social programs — plus delivery of prescriptions and meals. PACE supports coordinated community-based care under Medicare and Medicaid.
Direct-to-Consumer Assisted Transportation (Retail): Personalized rides for older adults and individuals with disabilities, including door-through-door assistance, driver companionship, and flexible scheduling.
Every SilverRide experience is supported by a live dispatcher model that blends automation with human oversight, ensuring operational precision and peace of mind for riders and partners alike.
AtkinsRéalis Unveils Resilience Planning Solution
AtkinsRéalis launched SIMULATOR — a comprehensive suite of digital resilience planning solutions designed to help clients predict, prepare for, respond to, and recover from future disasters.
Building on the success of the award-winning City Simulator platform, the enhanced SIMULATOR suite features market-specific modules for cities, transportation, seaports, airports, and installations. These tools enable asset owners to assess unique vulnerabilities, model risks, and develop data-driven strategies to secure funding and enhance system resilience.
Each SIMULATOR deployment begins with the creation of a digital twin, a dynamic, data-driven model that replicates real-world infrastructure systems. It then incorporates forecasted growth trends, including urbanization, population shifts, and infrastructure development, and evaluates the performance of infrastructure systems under threats such as extreme weather, epidemics, and cyberattacks.
By integrating diverse data sources such as stormwater infrastructure, power grids, and zoning regulations, SIMULATOR insights allow clients to develop responsive resilience strategies that ensure long-term operational continuity while balancing economic, social, and environmental priorities, according to AtkinsRéalis officials.
