Prevost’s new X3-45 premium touring coach, based on the company’s XLII Entertainer shell, offers a multitude of new features, including a longer wheelbase (334.5 inches) intended to provide a smoother, more comfortable ride. An independent suspension system comes standard, helping reduce the turning radius to 42.5 feet. Special sway bars on the front and drive axles, and variable assistance power steering, offer exceptional directional stability and handling. The vehicle’s integral structure is a combination of stainless steel and rust-protected low-alloy, high-tensile steel. The rivet-free outer shell is all stainless steel up to window level. The uniquely designed curved roof-wrapping and flush-mounted windows enhance the coach’s distinctive styling and contribute to improved aerodynamics. This model also offers the industry’s largest overall under-floor surface area (139 sq. ft.) with an improved design for more efficient luggage storage. Cargo bay doors are now sturdier and offer improved clearance for loading and unloading. The vehicle’s new and improved air conditioning system increases the flow of fresh air. Its 9-ton compressor increases the system’s capacity by 20% (compared to the Prevost XLII). The X3-45 features a powertrain equipped with a Detroit Diesel Series 60 EGR engine, which can be used in conjunction with either the Allison World or the ZF AS-Tronic transmissions, and Prevost’s special engine/transmission mounting reduces noise and vibration. Its advanced multiplex system features a number of benefits, including easier maintenance, faster troubleshooting and quick and accurate diagnosis of problems, with one-third fewer wires, relays and terminals. Other key vehicle features include an all-disc ABS brake system, ergonomic driver’s area, flush-mounted frameless windows, passenger-controlled temperature regulation and a new state-of-the-art sound system with improved sound output. The coach has individual stereo headsets with plug-ins, VCR/DVD players, live TV reception and scenic and back-up cameras. Optional amenities include upgraded seats, MiniChef galleys, fold-away card tables, retractable seat food tables, beverage cup holders, magazine nets, grab handles, footrests, destination sign, a headlamp cleaning system and fog lights.
