The American Public Transportation Association issued the following "Action Alert" urging members to contact their Congressional leaders to support the Capital Investment Grant (CIG) program. This program would be phased out in President Trump's FY 2018 "skinny budget" proposal.

ACTION ALERT
Call your Senators before April 6 and tell them you would like them to sign on to the Senators Durbin, Feinstein, Murray and Schatz letter supporting the Capital Investment Grant program.
Call your Representatives before April 4 and ask them to join the letter being led by Representatives Blumenauer and Walorski

As you know, the President's Fiscal Year (FY) 2018 "skinny budget" proposal would phase out the Capital Investment Grant (CIG) program, putting projects currently in the pipeline and future projects at risk. We are asking you to contact your Senators and Representatives and urge them to support public transportation by signing on to the appropriations request letters linked below.
The deadlines for formal appropriations requests for Members of the House of Representatives is April 4th, and the deadline for Senators is April 6th. Given the threat posed by the President's proposed budget, please ask your elected officials to sign these letters and also make a formal request of the Appropriations Committees in support of public transportation programs. APTA worked closely with these offices and other stakeholders to develop these letters and is actively pushing them out, but your personal request as constituents is critical to this effort.
