Amores, who has been with WSP for seven years — most recently as a vice president leading the South Florida transit and rail group — has spent more than 35 years in the transportation industry, primarily in the public sector.

Based in WSP’s Miami office, Amores will work throughout South Florida.

“Sandy has been instrumental in achieving improvements in operational performance for major public transit agencies and on public works projects, throughout his career,” said Claudia Bilotto, Sr. vice president and southeast district leader at WSP. “He is coordinating with our teams and regional leadership to increase cross-market collaboration while serving our clients to advance projects and enhance communities throughout South Florida.”

The announcements were made today by Rick Wood, CEO, Connectpoint.

The new roles reflect the company’s growth in the North American transportation industry, with ongoing contracts with agencies including PRT, Pittsburgh; King County Metro, Seattle; TriMet, Portland; Greater Richmond Transit Company; VIA San Antonio; DASH, City of Alexandra; GCRTA, Greater Cleveland; SMART, SE Michigan; RTCSN, Las Vegas; DART, Dallas; Trinity Metro, Ft. Worth; Seattle Streetcar, and Portland Streetcar.

“Having held key leadership roles in various industries and with a background in engineering and supply chain management, Patton can bridge the gap between engineering intricacies and business strategies while ensuring successful execution to meet customer needs,” said Wood.

Waukesha Metro Launches of WisGO

Waukesha Metro announced the launch of WisGo, a new fare collection system that will modernize the rider’s experience.

WisGo, powered by Umo, offers features such as more ways to pay, fare capping, and a transfer to other regional transit options such as the Milwaukee County Transit System

The app launched Sept. 11, and the new WisGo cards start later this fall.

Riders will have until April 2024, to transition from the old fare system to WisGo.

Cash is still an option and transfers will still be available.

Waukesha Metro is the second transit agency to make the switch to WisGo. The MCTS was the first and other nearby transit agencies are preparing to switch, according to the agency’s news release.

New WisGo cards will cost $2 but will be free when first available for a limited time.
