METRO Magazine and BusCon announced that Nadine Lee, deputy chief innovation officer for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (L.A. Metro) Office of Extraordinary Innovation, will deliver the keynote address, “In Los Angeles, Bus is the Answer — Now, What Was the Question?, at BusCon 2018, which takes place Oct. 1 to 3 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.

With its diverse population, daunting geographical scale, and near-iconic association with the car, the challenge of providing transportation take on a particular significance in Los Angeles County. L.A. Metro is leveraging all options to deliver high-quality mobility by requiring an unprecedented vision, a commitment to testing ideas, and forging new partnerships to solve this issue. In her Keynote Address, Lee will provide a glimpse into the exciting, demanding, and often entertaining work of the Office of Extraordinary Innovation as it guides the transformation of travel in the region, especially by bus, in today’s mobility landscape.

In her role with L.A. Metro, Lee launches innovative concepts to provide an accessible, convenient, and reliable mobility system for the citizens of Los Angeles County. Prior to her tenure in L.A., she led the development and implementation of the Flatiron Flyer bus rapid transit system for Denver’s Regional Transportation District, a project that produced a 40% growth in corridor bus ridership in its first few months of revenue service.

Lee is also a graduate of Leadership APTA and past director on the WTS International Board, as well as a registered professional engineer in Colorado and Kansas.

BusCon offers budget-conscious bus operators extraordinary value, with a full conference pass ranging from $115 to $150, which includes two networking receptions, educational programming, and more. This year’s show also marks the return of the Transit Maintenance Forum for senior maintenance professionals, two sessions from the United Motorcoach Association, and two separate training sessions on procurement and transit asset management from the National Transit Institute.
