Grayson Corp., the Fla.-based heat exchange specialist, is set to supply a range of innovative aftermarket parts to Daimler Buses North America’s (DBNA’s) Orion Parts operation, which is a major distributor of replacement parts for Orion and most other transit buses in the U.S.

Orion Parts plans to introduce a number of Grayson-designed components to its catalogue over the next year, giving operators the opportunity to upgrade OEM components that have become outdated and can now be improved upon.

First onto the list is Grayson’s Cassette 2 cooling system, which has been successfully trialed in Orion VII buses in a number of large metropolitan fleets including the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s, where it has operated for a year with no faults or leaks, and has resulted in reduced downtime for routine maintenance.

The heavy duty, all-aluminum product was designed and manufactured in the UK by Grayson Corp’s parent company Grayson Thermal Systems. Still new to North America, it is widely used in buses and coaches throughout Europe, where it is supplied both to OEMs and as a retrofit option, where it fits easily to existing pipework and chassis interfaces.

Grayson is also currently supplying a new aftermarket Nova RTS charge air cooler to Orion Parts, with more products to be added over the next 12 months.
