Latinos In Transit (LIT) announced the return of its Leadership Summit, which will take place Sept. 23-24, 2022, in Dallas, Texas.
The summit will be held at the Omni Dallas Hotel, and attendees can expect to learn from transportation leaders and industry partners in an intimate conference setting. This event is for middle managers ready to move to the next level in their careers. Attendees will also have networking opportunities with national, regional and local transportation officials, CEO’s, and transportation decision makers from across the U.S.
“Dallas is pleased to be hosting the second Latinos In Transit Leadership Summit. The city of Dallas Mayor Pro Tem, Oscar Narvaez, and chair of the city’s transportation committee, will be delivering the welcome remarks on behalf of Mayor Eric Johnson,” said Carmen Garcia, LIT Board member.
The summit will kick off Friday evening with a welcome reception, followed by an all-day event Saturday beginning with a welcome breakfast session. Attendees will also have the opportunity to attend breakout sessions and a leadership luncheon with keynote speaker Federal Transit Administration Deputy Administrator Veronica Vanterpool.
Osvaldo “Ozzie” Gonzalez, CEO of Latino Build Out and TriMet Board member, Veronica Castro de Barrera, chair of Austin Transit Partnership, and Ayda Gonzalez, VIA Metropolitan Transit board member, will participate in a session titled “Sitting at the Table” and DART will host a technical tour. The closing evening reception will highlight the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
In addition to Deputy Administrator Vanterpool, other confirmed speakers include Yvonne Lopez-Diaz, VP and national workforce strategist for HNTB; David Armijo, executive director of the South Central Regional Transit District; Teri Fisher, CEO and managing partner, Insight Strategies; and many more.
“The LIT Board of Directors and I are very excited to come back from the pandemic with an in-person Leadership Summit in the great state of Texas," said Alva Carrasco, LIT Board president. "We have a lot of catching up to do on how we as transportation leaders are going to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion in our industry."
