The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is partnering with Zipcar, to add 15 ride-sharing cars at eight Light RailLink, Metro SubwayLink, and MARC Train stations.

Transit riders now will have daily, on-demand access to a vehicle to reach their final destination, which will help reduce reliance on personal vehicles, ease traffic congestion, and improve carbon emissions. 

Persons interested in reserving a Zipcar can join and reserve online and pick up at eight specified MDOT MTA rail stations.

Zipcars can be reserved for one hour or up to seven days. Reservation costs include gas, maintenance, insurance, and 180 miles of driving.

To become a Zipcar member, an application must be submitted online. Once approved, members will receive a Zipcard to access vehicles worldwide. To unlock and operate a Zipcar, members hold the Zipcard to the car’s windshield.

Zipcars must be returned to the location where they were reserved. Simply park the car in its reserved space and use the Zipcard or the Zipcar app to lock the vehicle.
