Pittsburgh's Port Authority of Allegheny awarded Connectpoint Inc. an additional contract to continue their partnership in the rail and bus stop improvement program. It is an expansion on the successful implementation of the Digital Bus Stop displays and interactive kiosk that aim to improve rider experience on public transportation.

The technology offers features that allow for accessibility and ease of public transport. The solar-powered displays are easy to read, give real-time departure and schedule information and service alerts.

They install easily and can be retrofitted to existing bus stop displays and managed remotely through CPAM, their content management system. Through the CPAM the system is also able to alert passengers when an emergency arises.

The system is fully integrated to provide travel information to passengers, allowing them to plan out their trips and receive the most up-to-date information.

“Having real-time transit information available to everyone has been a major priority for us, as it improves the lives of our customers who are now able to spend more time doing what they want to do rather than spend time at a bus stop waiting to get there,” said Port Authority CEO Katharine Kelleman.

The Port Authority of Allegheny is the second largest transit system in Pennsylvania and works to improve ridership and passenger experience.
