The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) and Uber are partnering to increase ease of access to MTS Trolley and Rapid services in time for San Diego’s two world-class events in July — the MLB All-Star Game and Comic-Con International. Both events will attract hundreds of thousands of people and many will ride MTS services to avoid traffic and parking hassles downtown.

The partnership will offer a one-time discount of $5 for uberPOOL riders who utilize its service to arrive or depart from MTS Transit Centers. It is designed to allow people to leave their cars at home, get a ride to transit and then reverse the trip to get back home.

“UberPOOL can be used as critical first-mile service to break down one of the barriers for people to access transit,” said Paul Jablonski, CEO of MTS. “With this partnership, people can leave their car at home and get where they need to go easily and affordably. It will be a great way to enjoy all the action downtown for the next few weeks.”

MTS and Uber have selected 20 Transit Centers throughout the MTS service territory as places to pick up and drop off riders taking advantage of the partnership. UberPOOL riders enter a code and the discount is applied if they are picked up or dropped off at one of the participating Transit Centers:

"Our goal in San Diego is for uberPOOL to serve as a complement to public transportation, connecting riders to work, school and the places they love. We’ve seen how riders are using Uber to travel the first and last mile between their homes and the nearest transit station, wherever it may be, and through this exciting partnership with MTS, we can make those connections even more seamless," said Brian Hughes, Uber San Diego GM.
