Texas awarded $50M for rail improvements, HSR corridor

Will jump-start planning for high-speed rail between Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth, focusing on the Tower 55 project. The project will alleviate congestion at one of the busiest railroad intersections in the U.S., where ten freight and passenger rail routes converge and carry more than 100 trains per day.

Free transit rides end for Chicago seniors

Chicago Transit Authority, Metra and Pace Bus will only continue to offer free rides to low-income seniors. Other seniors are still eligible for discounted fares. Agencies have stationed personnel at some stations to help seniors adjust to the change.

N.Y. MTA to expedite repair of storm damaged rail line

The MTA has begun a careful and disciplined survey of every mile of the Port Jervis Line and all supporting structures, systems and equipment. A team of diverse specialists is being assembled to assess the full extent of damage and develop a work plan that addresses the need to rebuild miles of the right of way.
