Caltrain’s express service boosts ridership

Ridership on weekend Baby Bullet trains increased 54 percent in April compared to March. The service, which was suggested by Caltrain riders, was introduced as a pilot program in January. Originally scheduled to operate for three months, it has been extended because of its success.

APTA, partners to host international high-speed rail conference

The 8th World Congress on High-Speed Rail will take place in Philadelphia from July 11 to 13, 2012. The event will bring together both the public and private sectors to provide insight and best practices for implementing high-speed rail projects at every stage – from planning, financing and construction to operations and management.

Alstom, consortium sign $1.1B Italian rail deal

WTS, U.S. DOT launch girls’ education initiative

The joint initiative will kick off at the Women’s Transportation Seminar annual awards dinner on May 18 in San Francisco. It will introduce girls ages 13 to 18 to a variety of transportation careers through hands‐on interactive activities and mentoring programs.
