SHERMAN, Texas — Financial troubles continue for TAPS paratransit service, which was unable to make payroll on Friday for 153 employees, including drivers, call center workers and other operations staff, The Dallas Morning News reported.
Representatives with the North Central Texas Council of Governments met Monday with TAPS officials to expedite its payments so that TAPS could get money in the bank this week to pay its employees, the report said.
A TAPS spokesman said bus service was not affected by the lack of payroll, though reductions in service continue as the agency tries to match its service levels with the limited funds available, according to The Dallas Morning News.
The agency has about $4 million in unpaid bills because of several years of mismanagement, officials have said. Former Executive Director/CEO Brad Underwood resigned last month, the report said. For the full story, click here.
