APTA: 10.7B transit trips taken in 2008

Public transportation use is up 38 percent since 1995, a figure that is almost triple the growth rate of the population (14 percent) and up substantially over the growth rate for the vehicle miles traveled (VMT) on U.S. highways (21 percent) for that same period.

NTSB aims to eliminate fatigue in transportation

Long concerned about the effect of human fatigue in transportation and the consequences of fatigue on those who perform critical functions in all modes of transportation, the NTSB has issued more than 100 fatigue related recommendations in all modes of transportation.

APTA: Transit users save $8,500 yearly

In addition, commuters who ride public transit to work are now eligible to receive an increase in the monthly transit benefit offered by their employer. The maximum transit benefit is now equal to the parking benefit and increases from $120 to $230 per month.
