NJ Transit head resigns, replacement named
The current executive director of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, Veronique (Ronnie) Hakim, was named as James Weinstein's replacement. The move is expected to be completed by March 1.
NEWARK, N.J. — The executive director of NJ Transit, James Weinstein resigned Tuesday, according to a Daily Record report.
Commuter advocates cited recent missteps at NJ Transit, including the decision to leave hundreds of railcars and locomotives in low-lying areas where they were damaged by flooding during superstorm Sandy, as well as the long waits and crowding encountered by fans after Super Bowl XLVIII, the report said.
Governor Christie named Veronique (Ronnie) Hakim as the new executive director at NJ Transit. The move for Hakim, who is currently the executive director of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, is expected to be completed by March 1.
Hakim is a career transportation professional with extensive experience serving at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) in New York City for more than 23 years in key executive positions. For the full story, click here.
