Gov. urges U. Illinois employees to use Amtrak

Executive Order 8 addresses Illinois’ fiscal crisis by recommending that state agencies require employees, whenever possible, to take public transportation or carpool when traveling. The state hopes this action will reduce travel reimbursements in gas money.

N.C. Amtrak crash injures 55

Fifty-five of the 212 passengers aboard the Carolinian No. 80 suffered minor injuries in the accident, which occurred at the intersection of U.S. 301 and N.C. Highway 903, about 30 miles north of Rocky Mount. It was unclear whether any of the eight crew members were injured.
