In its 75th year, Schaumburg,Ill.-based Motor Coach Industries (MCI) celebrates its continued success and prepares for the future, putting focus on advanced engineering, greener design, luxury interiors and commuter coach transportation.
MCI founder Harry Zoltok made the move from repairing buses to building his own in 1933 when he constructed his first coach: an 11-passenger body on a Packard passenger-car chassis. It was built in the company’s 5,000-square-foot plant previously known as the Fort Garry Motor Body and Paint Works Limited.
At the UMA Motorcoach Expo in San Francisco, January 16-20, MCI will usher in future achievements by showcasing updates to its model lineup and spotlighting its expanded PRO Support network of aftermarket services.

MCI will commemorate the building of its first coach in 1933 by inviting customers and guests at the UMA Expo to a party aboard the S.S. Hornblower January 17. The coach-driving simulator will be available for customers to test drive, and attendees will learn about MCI’s latest “Grand Tour” that will visit key locations across the U.S. and Canada. MCI will also display a special new anniversary logo, along with three “greener tomorrow” coaches.
