The Rowan County Transit System in Salisbury, N.C., converted 10 public transportation vans to clean, affordable propane autogas through Alliance AutoGas.
The new propane-powered Ford transit vehicles will save taxpayer dollars and help improve community air quality.
Alliance AutoGas converted the Rowan County fleet vehicles to run on propane autogas and also installed an autogas fuel pump at the fleet’s home base to make refueling even more convenient.
U.S. autogas fleets currently save around $1.80 per gallon versus gasoline, and because autogas is cleaner burning, these vehicles also spend less money on maintenance.
Alliance AutoGas provides the only complete program to help U.S. fleets switch to propane autogas, including vehicle conversions, fueling, fuel station installation, staff safety training and ongoing technical support, according to the company.
It is also the exclusive U.S. distributor of Prins autogas systems, the worldwide leader in clean propane autogas engine technology. The versatile bi-fuel autogas Prins Vapor Sequential Injection system can revert to gasoline at the push of a button and can also be moved from retiring vehicles to newer ones with very little vehicle downtime.
