CANADA — In the wake of Amtrak’s train derailment in Dupont, Wash., the National Observer reports that Transport Minister Marc Garneau is pushing for voice and video recorders to be implemented on trains to improve safety on Canada’s rail lines.
Garneau wants to see the video recorders put on locomotives running in Canada and he's also open to adding them to airplanes as well, telling the National Observer that he supports “anything that will help us improve safety and improve our understanding of any accident that occurs.”
