Ill.’s Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District (MTD) named Bryan Smith as its new chief operating officer (COO).
Smith formerly worked at the Portage Area Regional Transportation Authority (PARTA) in Kent, Ohio. PARTA is the public transportation provider for Portage County and Kent State University. He began work at PARTA as a bus operator while a student at Kent State University.
At PARTA, he held the positions of road supervisor/dispatcher, maintenance manager, assistant operations manager, operations manager, manager of business development, and director of planning. His wide range of experiences will be beneficial in his role at MTD.
MTD serves the Champaign-Urbana area and provides services to the 40,000-plus students, as well as teachers and faculty at the University of Illinois.
