The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) GM/CEO Keith Parker has been named one of region’s Most Admired CEOs by The Atlanta Business Chronicle. This distinction recognizes Atlanta’s leading executives in various industries and professional disciplines, according to the publication.
Parker joined the nation’s 9th largest transit system as its GM/CEO in 2012.With an annual budget of nearly $1 billion, MARTA provides more than 400,000 passenger trips a day through heavy rail, bus and paratransit services. Since taking the helm, Parker has worked with MARTA’s Board of Directors to balance MARTA’s budget, improve efficiencies, increase bus and rail service, and enhance the overall customer experience.
“I am humbled to receive this distinct honor with this distinguished group of industry leaders and innovators,” said Parker. “This recognition is truly a reflection of the dedication and hard work of the entire MARTA family.”

With a long history of accomplishments and accolades, Parker was previously recognized as Outstanding Public Transportation Manager by the American Public Transportation Association in October 2015. In 2016, Parker received a prestigious appointment by President Barack Obama to serve on the National Infrastructure Advisory Council and was named one of eight Public Officials of the Year by Governing Magazine.
A native of Petersburg, Va., Parker serves the community with various national and local civic and charitable organizations — including the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, Virginia Commonwealth Board of Visitors and Goodwill Industries. Parker holds an MBA from the University of Richmond, as well as a Master of Urban and Regional Planning and a BA in Political Science from Virginia Commonwealth University.
