The new Website, which has a link from www.mtamaryland.com, is dedicated to all the efforts the MTA is making to help improve the environment, and also has links to several community partners that share similar green goals.
The Board of Public Works approved the purchase of thirty New Flyer Low Floor articulated 60-foot hybrid diesel-electric buses last March. The first of these should start arriving in early 2009. The hybrids will replace current diesel buses as they retire. It is expected to take approximately ten years or so to replace the entire local bus fleet of nearly 700 buses. Currently, there are ten 40-foot hybrids in revenue service.
